Money Smart Train-the-Trainer Program
An Adult Volunteer Training Program
The Money Smart Train-the-Trainer workshop is designed to provide volunteers with practical instruction on how to use the Money Smart curriculum in a classroom setting. Conducted by an FDIC Community Affairs Officer, the workshop teaches volunteers how to deliver financial literacy classes to adults who want to improve their money management and financial planning skills.
In this one-day workshop, volunteers learn how to teach and counsel consumers on important financial concepts, including:
- the basics of banking;
- how to build/maintain good credit;
- how to maintain a checking account;
- good money-management skills;
- how to develop a savings plan;
- all about consumer credit reports;
- important facts about borrowing; and
- what home ownership is all about.
Through the use of lectures, presentations, demonstrations and exercises, volunteers:
- learn valuable teaching techniques;
- receive instruction on how to coach one-on-one;
- receive valuable feedback from FDIC trainers; and
- network with representatives from other organizations in thier community.
